A Brief History Of Communication Inventions

By Hammad Baig on Saturday, 23 March 2013 |
If we look around us, everything has changed from the old times. The world is moving so fast and we have become accustomed to it. The world is progressing by leaps and bounds and every new day brings new inventions and innovations. From the time we wake up in the morning till the time we go to bed, we use countless scientific inventions without any notice. Let’s have a look at a few screen shots of history that have left long lasting effects on man and society.

    LAND-LINE COMMUNICATION

Around the year 1876, Alexander Graham Bell patented his new invention the Telephone and the next year the Bell Company was established to operate local telephone exchanges. With the passage of time, things were developed to near perfection. People never thought before of connecting over a long distance, but it was made possible. No doubt from the time of its invention, this land-line communication has served millions of people but now due to the advancement of Internet and cellular connectivity, its losing its worth, slowly. Now using land-line is considered as a bit out of fashion.

    CELLULAR CONNECTIVITY

Wireless communication experiments were being done from early on, but in 1946 in the US, an AT&T mobile telephone call was placed and the first commercial mobile telephone service was made available. Working in the same way, a reliable cellular communication was made possible, it needed no wires and was accessible anywhere. Cell phones have developed a long way from then, their size shrinked to even less then the human palm. Today cellular connectivity is touching its peak and services like ECT are doing their best to facilitate our daily communications.

    WORLD WIDE WEB

World Wide Web was not the beginning of the Internet. First the Internet Configuration Control Board was established by APRA. Then in 1983 Transmission Control Protocol and Internet Protocol were used and were referred to as Internet. Then in 1991 World Wide Web was started and today you can witness that Internet has pushed us into a new dimension of connectivity and progress. It compelled the common man to think beyond his limit and opened new ways of moving forward. Its impact started slowly and gradually, but today everyone has witnessed its power. You can see everything is moving online whether those are shopping stores, books, automobiles and other such stuff. Soon a time will come when physical presence will no more be valued, and everything will be done on Internet while sitting at home. Besides this fast communication facility, Internet has opened new ways for the people to work. More number of jobs, Web based applications development, E-stores and online banking.

    LAST WORD!

No doubt these inventions have changed the pattern of our life and man was made to think about other possibilities. But there is still a lot to invent and scientists are working day and night to comfort our daily lives. Beyond all this, it's our soul responsibility to use these technologies in a positive way that reflect good impression on the future of our society.

Pretty Font Usages Set on HTML5

By Hammad Baig on Tuesday, 5 February 2013 | 0 comments
Pretty Font Usages Set on HTML5A lot of things have to be considered when designing a website, but one aspect that is often ignored is the font. Plenty of people know that HTML5 and CSS can do a lot of good together, but few realize just how effective fonts based on HTML5 can be.

    The Power of Fonts

No doubt content is king on the web, and a single image can say a lot more than pages and pages of text. But that’s no excuse to disregard the font, as they can be used for more than just providing information. Properly designed, fonts can be used to jazz up a webpage and make it more attractive. By using fonts properly with HTML5, people visiting your site will get the message instantly without reading a whole lot of text.

For example, fonts can become your company’s logo, and if well made will create instant recognition. Fonts can convey emotions as well, and express a great deal about your site. If you browse the web and go to business sites, kids sites, entertainment, science fiction, etc you will see that the fonts they use are closely connected with their site.

This is possible because there are fonts for practically every occasion. For example you will find “party” fonts, calligraphic inspired, Gothic, graffiti, horror, modern, sci-fi and many more. When combined with other elements of a web page, your site will come alive.

Examples of Fonts Set on HTML5

A well made page with HTML5 relays the site’s message clearly. Typography sites for example, will combine fonts with different colors to highlight the possibilities that exist, showing just how fancy one can be with HTML and CSS. On the other hand you will also find business and “corporate” sites that use less fancy fonts, emphasizing readability over fancy design. These sites also use only one or two primary colors and they are often subdued as well.

Other more artistic sites like to merge fonts with the graphics on the page, and you will find these usually on the websites of graphics artists and digital designers. In direct contrast to these are news sites, which use fonts just for displaying information. While artists’ sites will combine fonts and backgrounds in various ways, news and business sites have fonts and backgrounds of contrasting colors and typically white light over dark.

    Using Fancy Fonts Effectively

What HTML5 and CSS do well is use fonts as design elements. The text for example, may be placed next to a logo or graphic that will symbolize what the site is about. When merged with a subdued background, the message comes across clearly, while allowing the user to admire the font design and understanding what the site is about. This isn’t easy to pull off, but CSS and HTML5 makes this easier to pull off. Websites may use different kinds of fonts on one page, or just stick to one. There are no rules here, only that it matches your goal.

While there are a lot of ways you can use fonts based on HTML5, don’t lose sight of what they will be for. If your focus is on information, make the fonts are readable. If the fonts are to be use for artistic purposes, make sure that it is right for the site and meets your objectives.

Finding People is Easy: The Best Free White Pages Online

By Hammad Baig on Monday, 4 February 2013 | 0 comments
The Internet made a lot of things easier. That includes finding people. Whether it is about an old friend, a long lost relative, or a parent you never knew since birth, free white pages on the Internet will help you bridge the many years lost along the way.

    How it Works

Finding People is Easy: The Best Free White Pages Online
Basically, white pages keep a database of people’s information from across the nation. It is constantly updated to include more and more names along with their details. With them around, you can search for a name and find out where you can get in touch with him/her/them. If you know the exact first and last name, your search could be easier. In any case, the white pages could easily give you ideas on which path to follow to get to the bottom of your search.

What’s even more amazing is that most of the white pages available online charge no fee at all. You can use the service to help ease your burden of searching without having to pay anything at all.

The Best White Pages for Free

As mentioned earlier, there are countless white pages available online. They may have different features but the goal is always the same. That is, to help people find a long lost loved one or some people they might want to reconnect with. Here are some of the best free white pages:

    1. Anywho.com

This is one of the best white pages service online. It features an always updated database that bears people’s names along with their phone numbers and addresses. You can name, address, or even phone numbers for your search. The information in this directory is provided by a third party company specializing in obtaining peoples details so those who are searching will find their match or exactly what they are looking for.

    2. PeopleFinder.com

This is another great Internet service that could help those searching for people. You may also enlist in it so people who are looking out for you will have a way to find you. If you feel that you no longer need to service, removing yourself from the listing is also easy. You just have to click a “remove listing” link on your name and your personal information will be taken down from the site.

    3. WhitePages.com

This is a nice directory page that has very good customer support. Opting out is also easy through the site. What’s best? The procedures are all online.

    White Pages vs People Searches

It is easy to understand why a lot of people opt to use white pages in their search for people they knew but lost contact with. This online service makes the whole process seem easy, simple, convenient, and accessible. You need not to scour one place to another. In fact, you don’t need to go to any place at all but just right be in front of your computer table. For as long as you are connected to the Internet, re-connecting with people you are looking for will be a breeze.

But does this mean manual people searches are no longer effective? Nope. This only means that white pages are giving you a better option to find what you are looking for with far greater percentage of achieving success without spending much. There are a lot of things you could save by coursing through your search through white pages. There’s time, money, and effort – lots of effort.
